CLEVELAND, Ohio A 17-year-old boy accused of committing several armed robberies and a rape in Ohio City escaped a state-run hospital on Saturday.
U.S Marshals and the Ohio State Highway Patrol are searching for Lavelle Spencer, 17, according to the U.S. Marshals Service. Spencer escaped about 6 p.m. Saturday from Warrensville Developmental Center in Highland Hills. A warrant was issued for his arrest on Monday, according to court records.
Authorities have not said how he escaped. Ohio State Highway Patrol Sgt. Ray Santiago later confirmed the escape. He refused to say how the teen escaped or release any other information, citing an on-going investigation.

CLEVELAND, Ohio Prosecutors on Tuesday rested their case against a U.S. Army soldier charged with murder in the shooting deaths of three people in a shooting at a New Year’s Eve party in 2018.
The state called dozens of witnesses over five days of testimony in the trial of Tevin Biles-Thomas. Of them, only two identified him as firing shots in a shootout that came after someone attacked Biles-Thomas’ cousin, Devaughn Gibson, at the party in an Airbnb above a pizza shop on Cleveland’s West Side.

CLEVELAND, Ohio A 32-year-old man pleaded guilty Thursday to murder after police said he killed a 73-year-old laundromat worker who stopped him from attacking a group of women.
Carl Sanders, of Cleveland, faces life in prison after admitting to killing David Brown in December 2019 inside the Wash-N-Dry laundromat on Broadway Avenue. He pleaded guilty to murder, felonious assault and weapons charges in exchange for prosecutors dismissing an aggravated murder charge and several counts of attempted murder and felonious assault.
