There have been 65 near drownings in Queensland this month with nearly half involving children under the age of 12. Paramedics are raising the alarm after 29 children under 12 have had near-drownings or immersion incidents, with most happening in backyard pools. QAS Acting Director of clinical quality and patient safety Lachlan Parker urged parents and family against complacency around water. We have seen an alarming number of an increase in near drowning incidents in Queensland, most of these near drownings are preventable, Mr Parker said.

Paramedics have rushed a person to hospital following a single-vehicle crash on the Bruce Highway at Sippy Downs early on Friday.
The person was taken to Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a stable condition after the crash in the southbound lanes about 3.40am.
It comes after a teenage boy had to be flown to hospital after a crash involving four others at Noosa on Christmas Eve.
The boy was taken to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in a critical condition.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said four people were in a stable condition with minor injuries. Those four have been taken to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital. A fifth patient was entrapped in the vehicle, this person is in a critical condition with significant head and arm injuries. The RACQ Lifeflight rescue helicopter is set to transport the patient after landing at the nearby AFL grounds.

A teenage boy has been airlifted to hospital in a critical condition after a single-vehicle rollover.
Emergency crews were called to the incident on Noosa Springs Drive at Noosa Heads at around 1:35pm.
A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said four people were in a stable condition with minor injuries.
“Those four have been taken to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital.
“A fifth patient was entrapped in the vehicle, this person is in a critical condition with significant head and arm injuries.”
The RACQ Lifeflight rescue helicopter landed on the nearby AFL grounds to transport the teen.
