An Essex grandmother has opened up about the pain her family has endured after two men were convicted of her grandson s murder.
Her emotional words come after grandson Liam Taylor, 19, and a friend went for a drink at the Rose and Crown pub in Writtle on January 31 last year.
The pair were approached by a group of men in a black Subaru, who attacked them with weapons in the pub s smoking area before fleeing the scene.
Michelle Cooper, 40, from Clacton, was reported to have been assaulted in Beach Way on April 23. She was admitted to hospital with a head injury, but died on Sunday 25 April. She was officially named by Essex Police on Saturday. Senior investigating officer Detective Chief Insp Steve Jennings, from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate, added: “Our investigation into Michelle’s death continues. “It is not too late to speak to us if you have any information that will help my officers. “I appreciate incidents like this can cause concern to the local community, but we believe this was an isolated attack with no risk to the wider public.”
Three men have been charged with drugs offences in a crackdown on county lines in Southend. Saley Beya, 35, of Whitta Road in Manor Park, has been charged with being concerned in the supply of heroin and of crack cocaine following his alleged involvement in the King T drug line. Alfred Tusha, 27, of Arnold Avenue in Southend has been charged with being concerned in the supply of heroin and of crack cocaine and of the acquisition, use or possession of criminal property.
