UPS worker killed in Bridgewater hit-and-run on Route 28

BRIDGEWATER - A 28-year-old UPS worker from Plainfield was killed on Route 28 early Thursday after being struck by the cab of a tractor-trailer, which fled the scene.
Police are trying to locate the driver who struck Robert C. Cepeda, who was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson.
Cepeda had just gotten off an NJ Transit commuter bus about 2 a.m. along with two other co-workers and was on his way to work at the UPS facility on Route 28 and Chimney Rock Road.
Cepada was walking toward the 24-hour Wawa across Route 28 when he was struck by an eastbound brown or red truck cab with no trailer attached, Robertson said.

BRIDGEWATER, NJ Authorities are investigating the fatal hit-and-run of a pedestrian in Bridgewater early Thursday morning.
Around 2 a.m., Robert C. Cepeda, 28, of Park Avenue in Plainfield had just gotten off a New Jersey Transit commuter bus at the bus stop on the westbound side of Route 28 in Bridgewater along with two other co-workers, said Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson.
Cepeda was on his way to work at the nearby UPS building on Route 28 and Chimney Rock Road when he began to walk towards a nearby convenience store. He was crossing the intersection when he was hit by an eastbound brown or red tractor truck cab without a trailer attached, said Robertson.
