4.3 quake 9.3 km southwest of Hualien City, Taiwan, 10 Jun 6:42 am (GMT +8)
An earthquake of magnitude 4.3 occurred only 18 minutes ago 9 km southwest of Hualien City, Taiwan, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) reported.
The quake hit at a shallow depth of 12 km beneath the epicenter near Hualien City, Hualien, Taiwan, early morning on Thursday 10 June 2021 at 6:42 am local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake was probably felt by many people in the area of the epicenter. It should not have caused significant damage, other than objects falling from shelves, broken windows, etc.

A shallow magnitude 5.3 earthquake was reported in the morning near Miyako, Miyako-shi, Iwate, Japan.
According to Japan s National Research Institute for Earth Science and Disaster Resilience (NIED), the quake hit on Wednesday 9 June 2021 at 7:34 am local time at a shallow depth of 29.7 km. Shallow earthquakes are felt more strongly than deeper ones as they are closer to the surface. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
