Arbor Week: Tree giveaways in communities throughout the state By Nancy Prater February 22, 2021 Planting the right tree in the right place can help build a more sustainable future. (Dennis Washington / Alabama NewsCenter) Arbor Week is celebrated in Alabama the last full week of February. Over 4,000 trees were given away during Arbor Day celebrations in Jacksonville and Anniston through community partnerships with Alabama Power. In Montgomery, winners of the annual Governor’s Arbor Day poster contest will gather Thursday, Feb. 25 on the Capitol grounds. The city of Hoover’s Arbor Day giveaway is Saturday, March 6 at Aldridge Gardens from 9 a.m. until noon.
