ATHENS, Ga. – Georgia Tech track & field concluded its 2021 outdoor regular season at the Torrin Lawrence Memorial Meet hosted by the University of Georgia at Spec Towns Track in Athens on Saturday afternoon. The Yellow Jackets laced it up against host UGA, Clemson, Columbia International University, Connecticut, Emory, Georgia State, North Carolina and Virginia Tech.
“We had a good weekend at UGA,” said head women’s track & field coach Alan Drosky. “The highlight was Bria breaking her own school record in the long jump yesterday. Then today she gets a seasonal best in the triple jump. Taylor jumped an outdoor personal best yesterday in the long jump and Reese had a nice personal best in the hurdles. The weekend ended well with a seasonal best in the 1600m relay. Being right in the middle of exams, we were a little flat in some areas.”
Marcus McDaniel and
Andres Martin collected 2021 Atlantic Coast Conference all-conference honors as announced by the league office on Thursday. McDaniel was named to the first team, while Martin earned second-team recognition. The honors were determined by a vote of the league’s head coaches.
McDaniel sported a 15-6 dual match singles record this season, going 8-4 in ACC singles play as well. He went 10-6 from position No. 1, a spot he held for the majority of the season. A 7-4 singles record versus nationally ranked opponents helped put McDaniel among the conference’s best this year. He is currently ranked as the No. 25 singles player in the latest ITA Rankings, and was rated as high as No. 20 towards the end of the regular season.

ACC Player of the Year and Georgia Tech Yellow Jacket senior forward Moses Wright has officially declared for the 2021 NBA Draft. He will not use his COVID-19 year of eligibility to return to college basketball next year. Wright had an amazing year which included winning the ACC Tournament Championship over the Florida State Seminoles. This year will likely be the senior’s best chance to position himself for a spot in the NBA or NBA G League.

Flores, Jones Earn All-ACC Honors
THE FLATS – Georgia Tech women’s tennis seniors Kenya Jones and Victoria Flores collected 2021 Atlantic Coast Conference all-conference honors as announced by the league office on Thursday. Jones was named to the first team, while Flores earned second-team recognition. The honors were determined by a vote of the league’s head coaches.
Boasting a 17-8 overall singles record, Jones has led the Yellow Jackets from the No. 1 position all season long. She is 16-7 in dual play at the top spot and went 9-2 against league opponents. Currently ranked No. 5 nationally in singles, Jones has spent the entire season ranked in the top 15, climbing as high as No. 2 on March 30. This marks Jones’ third All-ACC honor, having been named to the first team in 2019 and second team in 2018.
