The shooting death of a Birmingham teen who was called by two people involved in an altercation to settle the dispute earlier this month was ruled justifiable, police said Tuesday.
Travio Ollison, 19, died April 5 at UAB Hospital after being shot in the 1900 block of Druid Hills Drive.
Birmingam police spokesman Sgt. Rod Mauldin said it appeared the deadly shooting stemmed from an altercation between two people who were living together. Both parties, he said, called Ollison and a suspect to the location and they intervened in the dispute. A physical altercation then took place and Ollison was shot.

WATERTOWN â District Attorney Kristyna S. Mills doesnât want her light-heartedness toward the legalization of marijuana to be taken as a signal that sheâs not concerned.
âItâs a political thing,â said Charles Donoghue, the city chief of police. âWe enforce the law, so weâre going to do what weâre supposed to do.â
In the same camp is Ms. Mills, whoâs been the Jefferson County District Attorney since 2015. She said she has several grave concerns, but her approach is multi-faceted and aimed at fairness in knowing the law is the law, and now is the time to make a game plan and move on. Sheâs not necessarily for it, but at the same time her office has bigger concerns.
