UPDATE: The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim as 54-year-old Timothy Verl Richhart. The circumstances surrounding the wreck are still being investigated by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.

PINSON The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office is working to notify the family of a man killed in a crash in unincorporated east Jefferson County on Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2021.
The man was the driver of a truck that left the roadway for unknown reasons in the 6600 block of Bud Holmes Road in Pinson. Authorities say the accident happened around 3:55 p.m. The truck came to a rest in a ditch alongside the road.
Authorities ID woman killed while walking on Leeds train tracks

The woman killed Monday when she was hit by a freight train in Leeds has now been identified.
The crash happened at 11:56 a.m. in a remote area of the city, according to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office. Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Yates on Wednesday identified the woman as Amber Michelle Wilson. She was 29 and lived in Odenville.
The woman, according to authorities, was walking along the railroad tracks in the 8200 block of Edwards Avenue. Her direction was away from the incoming Norfolk Southern train.
The train rounded a corner and that’s when the engineer spotted the woman. He sounded the horn and other emergency alerts but was unable to stop the train in time.

UPDATE: Authorities have released the name of a woman killed in an apartment fire Saturday night. Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Yates has identified the victim as Ruth Louise Speake, of Birmingham. She was 70.
The cause of the blaze has not yet been determined.

BIRMINGHAM An apartment fire left one person dead on Saturday night in Birmingham.
The Birmingham Fire Department responded to the decedent’s apartment located at 1208 33rd Street South in Birmingham on a report of a fire around 10:45 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 27, 2021.
According to authorities, fire personnel discovered the decedent inside the apartment where death was pronounced. The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office has not identified the victim, but lists her as an adult female.

JEFFERSON COUNTY The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified two people killed in a crash on Interstate 50, on Saturday, Feb. 27, 2021.
Montez Undra Tolbert, Jr., 25, of Bessemer, and Bishop Jones, 23, of Hueytown, were both pronounced dead on the scene near mile marker 118, in the area of Fairfield.
The accident occurred at around 12:45 p.m. on Saturday when two vehicles sideswiped and lost control. The Chevrolet Cobalt that Tolbert and Jones were traveling in rolled over multiple times and traveled down an embankment and the two were ejected from the vehicle.
Two others were transported to UAB Hospital with unknown injuries.
