46-year-old woman killed in Birmingham crash

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the woman as Kimberly Latrice McBride. She was 46.
The crash happened at noon in the 300 block of Killough Drive. No additional details were released.
McBride was taken to UAB Hospital where she was pronounced dead at 7:28 p.m.
Birmingham police worked the accident.

BESSEMER The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office announced the death of two people incarcerated at Williams Donaldson Correctional Facility.
Dewitt Searight, 77, died of natural causes, according to Coroner Bill Yates. Searight had been hospitalized since Jan. 20, 2021, at Brookwood Baptist Medical Center due to complications from a previous stroke. He died on Feb. 8. Searight was serving a life sentence for a murder in Butler County.
On Feb. 9, David Lee Franklin, 31, died at the prison. Franklin, who was serving a 30-year sentence for possession of a controlled substance out of Jefferson County, was found unresponsive on the floor of his cell and was pronounced dead on the scene. An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause and manner of death.
3 killed in separate Birmingham traffic crashes on Monday

Three people were killed Monday in separate crashes in Birmingham.
The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the victims as Joshua Alexander Plourde, 25, Denzel Lorenzo Billups, 30 and Malera Shanell Staples, 24.
Plourde, of Homewood, was the driver of a vehicle that wrecked at 7:28 a.m. Monday in the 5500 block of First Avenue South. Details of the wreck weren’t made available, but Plourde was pronounced dead on the scene at 7:46 a.m.
Billups, of Birmingham, was driving a motorcycle that was involved in a two-vehicle wreck. The wreck happened at 2:55 p.m. at Pearson Avenue at 17th Place S.W. He was pronounced dead on the scene at 3:09 p.m.
