65-year-old woman found dead in Tarrant apartment after fire call

A 65-year-old woman was found early Friday when firefighters were dispatched to her apartment.
Firefighters responded at 12:55 a.m. to a report of smoke coming from an apartment unit in the 900 block of Overton Avenue. When they arrived on the scene, they found the woman unresponsive in her apartment.
The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Doris Duncan. She was pronounced dead on the scene at 1:16 a.m.
Tarrant Fire Chief Jason Rickels there was no fire damage in the apartment. The smoke was coming from a pot that had been left on the stove.

TARRANT, Ala. (WBRC) - A 65-year-old woman died Friday morning after a fire inside her Tarrant apartment.
The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office says crews responding to the 900 block of Overton Avenue just before 1 a.m. Friday for a report of smoke.
Crews found Doris Duncan inside the apartment from where the smoke was coming from. She died at the scene.
Officials are investigating what led to the fire.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) - Police have made an arrested in a homicide that happened in mid-January.
Jamarcus McIntyre, 28, has been charged with murder, attempted murder and shooting into an occupied vehicle.
Authorities say they received a call that originated from the 5300 block of Pinson Valley Parkway around 8:48 p.m. Thursday. A preliminary investigation indicates an argument happened prior to the shooting.

BESSEMER, Ala. (WBRC) - Police in Bessemer are investigating a shooting that happened Monday night.
The Jefferson County Coronerâs Office says 67-year-old Zachery B. Brown Jr. was shot in the 2800 block of 12th Avenue North on Monday around 6 p.m.
Coroner Bill Yates says he was transported to UAB Hospital and died Tuesday afternoon.

BIRMINGHAM The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified a man shot and killed during a reported assault in Birmingham.
LaCorey Lashard McDonald, 31, of Alabaster was shot in the Zion Community on Monday, Jan. 11, 2021. He was taken to St. Vincent’s Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The Birmingham Police Department is investigating.
