BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) - Birmingham police are investigation what led to a woman being found unresponsive Monday inside her apartment.
The Jefferson County Coronerâs Office has identified the woman as 50-year-old Lashawn Williams Parrish. Coroner Bill Yates says she was found by family members who were performing a welfare check.
The death is being investigated as a homicide.

Coronavirus pandemic impacts lives, changes way of living for many
ATLANTA The coronavirus pandemic was responsible for nearly 80 million reported illnesses worldwide in December 2020. But, the illness, named COVID-19 by the World Health Organization (WHO), actually began in 2019. Health experts first identified the virus in Wuhan, China.
Although many people reported little to no symptoms, some have reported severe illness. Around 1.72 deaths have been attributed to coronavirus. A person can remain infectious for up to two weeks after catching COVID-19.
BIRMINGHAM The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified a man killed in a shooting in southwest Birmingham.
Kshune Dewayne Brown, 26, of Birmingham, sustained gunshot wound injuries during a reported assault, Coroner Bill Yates said.
The incident happened on Sunday, Dec. 27, 2020, around 10:45 a.m. First responders were called to the scene at 45th Street Southwest and Howard Avenue Southwest. Brown was taken to UAB Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 11:21 a.m.
The Birmingham Police Department is investigating the death as a homicide.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) The Jefferson County Coroner s Office has identified two men who died after a shooting late Wednesday night in Fern Creek.
The shooting happened around 11:45 p.m. on Del Maria Way, which is near the intersection of Bardstown Road and Hurstbourne Parkway, according to the Louisville Metro Police Department.
Officers responding to the scene found two men who had been shot. One man, identified Saturday as Rogelio Torres Garcia, 39, of Oldham County, died at the scene.
The other man, identified Saturday as Santiago Hernandez Robles, 37, also of Oldham County, was taken to University Hospital where he died early Thursday morning.
