BRIGHTON, Ala. (WBRC) - The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a homicide that happened Sunday evening on Bessemer Super Highway.
Authorities say the victim was found deceased just before 7 p.m. in the 4300 block of Bessemer Super Highway in Brighton. The victim has been identified as 23-year-old Luis Valla-Caranza.
There has not been any information released about possible suspects or arrests.

CENTER POINT The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of a man in connection to a deadly shooting in Center Point.
Curtis Williams, 66, is charged with manslaughter in connection to the shooting death of 17-year-old Camari DeVaughn Tyus.
Deputies got the call at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 4, 2021, about an argument and shots being fired. When they got to the scene in the 300 block of 19th Court Northeast, they found Tyus dead.
Sgt. Joni Money said in a press release that the teen had a gunshot wound.
“According to witnesses, there was an altercation that occurred at a family gathering and an altercation broke out,” said Money. “During the altercation, a shot was fired, striking the victim.”
Body recovered at Blue Heron Park in Jefferson County

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. A body was recovered at 12:45 p.m. Sunday in a lake at Blue Heron Park, according to a Tweet from the Jefferson County Sheriff s Office (JCSO), after officials began searching Sunday morning for an at-risk man who went missing more than a month ago.
JCSO has not confirmed the identity of the body found in the lake. The coroner s office will provide identification of the body, JCSO said.

CLAY The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office was on the scene of an early-morning crash on Friday, Feb. 5, 2021.
It happened around 5 a.m. in the 5700 block of Old Springville Road, in Clay. Deputies had to temporarily close the roadway in both directions to allow a large tow truck to remove the vehicle from the ravine.
Sgt. Joni Money said no one was hurt in the two-vehicle crash.
The cause and circumstances surrounding the crash are under investigation.
