Officials are searching for 34-year-old Russell Hines. The Coast Guard was notified by the James City County Sheriff s Office that Hines’s 29-foot boat was discovered aground with the engine running in the James River, in the vicinity of Gray s Creek, near Williamsburg. They say the boat was found with signs of recent occupancy. Crews are now coming together to search for Hine s whereabouts.

According to a news release, both vehicles swerved in an attempt to avoid the collision, but were not able to do so.

According to the James City County Police Department, the call for the crash came in at 9:15 p.m. Officers and personnel from the James City County Fire Department responded to the 9200 block of Richmond Road, where they found a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee that ran off the road and struck a tree. The Jeep s driver, James Horton, was taken to the hospital. He later died due to his injuries.
