The long-awaited announcement for a soybean crushing plant became a reality on Monday. 7:00 am, May 13, 2021 × The long-awaited announcement for a soybean crushing plant became a reality on Monday. ADM and Sen. John Hoeven, R-N.D., announced that the plant will locate in the former Cargill Malt plant near the Spiritwood Energy Park Association industrial park. Congratulations to those officials who persevered to make this project happen. The $350 million plant will add 70 permanent jobs to the area and is expected to process 150,000 bushels of soybeans a day, according to a news release on the project. The plant is expected to open prior to the soybean harvest in 2023.

The ordinances allow for outdoor seating on public right of ways adjacent to bars and restaurants and allow alcohol to be sold and possessed in those outdoor areas. The ordinances make permanent temporary ordinance changes that were put into effect last summer to allow additional seating during the coronavirus pandemic. The two ordinances passed unanimously.

John M. Steiner / The Sun ADM announced plans Monday for a $350 million soybean crushing plant at the Spiritwood Energy Park Association industrial park. The plans include redeveloping the former Cargill Malt plant for use in processing soybeans. ADM confirmed that the plant would produce soybean meal and vegetable oil for food, feed, industrial and fuel customers, including producers of renewable diesel.
