Car crashes head-on into school bus in Elbridge; no children hurt, troopers say Updated 2:52 PM; Elbridge, N.Y. A car crashed head-on into a school bus Monday morning in Elbridge, troopers said. The two-vehicle accident happened at 9:37 a.m. near the Kinney Drugs at 1057 Route 5, Onondaga County 911 records show. A driver drifted out of one lane into oncoming traffic and crashed into a school bus, said Trooper Jack Keller, a New York State Police spokesman. There were 15 children riding on the bus at the time of the crash, Keller said. The children, the aide and the bus driver were not injured, he said.

What does it mean for Syracuse University to be part of the larger community of the city of Syracuse and Onondaga County?  On March 4, in a town adjacent to Syracuse and in a school district attended by the children of many of our staff and faculty, a desperate mother called St. Joseph’s Hospital Health Center’s mental health crisis team, the Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program, to help her son during one of his frequent mental health crises. When the 17-year-old Judson Albahm took his mother’s car and fled from the mobile crisis team, the team called the police to help them pick Albahm up so that he could be brought in for treatment safely.

Family and friends are planning to hold a vigil Wednesday for a teenage boy fatally shot by police in Jamesville last week during a mental health call. Judson Albahm, 17, of Jamesville, was shot and killed Thursday afternoon near Apulia Road. Four officers from three agencies fired at Judson after the teenager pointed an airgun that looked like a handgun at officers, police said. The memorial will start at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Firefighters Memorial Park at South State and East Fayette streets in Syracuse. Attendees will then walk to St. Joseph’s Hospital Health Center at 301 Prospect Ave. for a silent vigil.
