A 26-year-old who was one of a group of four who held a man in his own home for six hours, stabbing him multiple times and cutting most of his right ear off, has been jailed for 7½ years.
Sam Maughan pleaded guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to causing serious harm to Mark Burke (43) on August 1st, 2018 at the victimâs home in Whitefriars Gardens, Dublin 8.
Det Garda Mark Dennehy said Mr Burke had allowed the men into his home after his daughter asked if she could have some people over, but when the group started to cause some trouble, he asked everyone to leave.

A MAN WHO allowed two handguns to be hidden inside a Henry Hoover in his van at the height of Dublin gangland activity has been given a suspended four year sentence.
Stephen O’Connor (45) was approached by a criminal figure while he was “incredibly vulnerable” and agreed to hold onto the firearms in order to “get them off his back”, Dublin Circuit Criminal Court heard.

A man who sold the details to his bank account which was then used to launder €10,000 has avoided a jail term after spending the weekend in custody.
Noah Abdurahmanov (25), who is originally from Chechnya, sold his details for €200 which he used to pay for flights back to there.
Abdurahmanov with an address at Mayfield Park, Clondalkin, pleaded guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to possession of the proceeds of criminal conduct within the state on July 12, 2018. He has no previous convictions.
Judge Martin Nolan heard evidence last Thursday and had remanded Abdurahmanov in custody until Monday s date.
