SAN MARCOS, Texas – San Marcos police arrested a 59-year-old man connected with the murder of a 33-year-old man at a local hotel.
Officers were called to the Econo Lodge Hotel and found a man dead inside one of the rooms on Tuesday night.
Officials identified the victim as Andreas Mihanpoor.
An investigation led officers to the suspect, Melvin George Nicholas Jr., and an arrest warrant was issued for his arrest, police said.
Nicholas was arrested and taken to the Hays County Jail. A bond has not been set.
San Marcos police arrested a suspect for murder after discovering a deceased male on Jan. 19 at the Econo Lodge Hotel, marking the first homicide in San Marcos for 2021.Â
Upon being dispatched to the hotel located at 811 S. Guadalupe St., police identified the deceased male as 33-year-old Andreas Mihanpoor. Next of kin has been notified and a final autopsy from the Travis County Medical Examiner Office is currently pending.Â
After an investigation by the SMPD Criminal Investigation Division, police arrested a suspect on Jan. 21 without incident and have taken them to the Hays County Law Enforcement Center. A bond has yet to be set for the suspect.
Austin police shot and killed

off-duty Austin Police Department officer while both were driving in the 2500 block of Wickersham Lane. Gonzales and Arellano s 2-month-old son was in the backseat of the car and was not injured.
The officer claims to have been cut off by Gonzales, who, the officer told investigators, pointed a gun. This prompted the officer, not in uniform and in a private vehicle, to fire a number of rounds at Gonzales vehicle before initiating a stop and calling 911. From here, bystander video recorded by a witness from a nearby apartment balcony shows how events unfolded.
