Who Is Stephen Broderick? Ex-Deputy Sheriff on the Run After Austin Mass Shooting

Stephen Nicholas Broderick, 41, a former deputy sheriff with the Travis County Sheriff s Office, is on the run after three people were shot dead at an apartment complex in Austin, Texas, on Sunday.
After fleeing the scene, Broderick was quickly identified by police as the suspected gunman in the shooting which claimed the lives of two women and a man shortly before noon.
Police efforts to locate Broderick evolved into a fugitive hunt on Sunday afternoon, with officials scouring areas outside the Great Hills Trail neighborhood of Arboretum. Police helicopters were also seen flying above the crime scene.

A massive multi-agency manhunt including the FBI and U.S. Marshals is underway in Austin for an armed suspect wanted for killing at least three people near an apartment complex late Sunday morning.
Austin police said that the three lifeless bodies were all adults,

AUSTIN – The former sheriff s deputy suspected of killing three people in a shooting rampage near an apartment complex in Northwest Austin was taken into custody Monday without incident, police said.
Stephen Nicholas Broderick, 41, was arrested along a rural highway in nearby Manor. Police said authorities received two 911 calls around 7:30 a.m. about a man walking along the road. Manor Police Chief Ryan Phipps said Broderick had a pistol in his waistband. Manor police released video of the arrest.

According to Austin-Travis County EMS, three adults were killed. The victims have been tentatively identified as two Hispanic females and a Black male. Officials say they believe the victims were all known to the suspect, but their exact relationship is unknown.
