With the Huron County commissioners passing a consent action this week calling for the state’s remaining COVID-19 restrictions to be lifted, the county commissioners feel that enough is enough and the area economy needs to restart.
County Chairman Sami Khoury previously said that Huron County did its part in getting COVID positivity rates down and that the area needs to move forward.

WASHINGTON The Thumb’s newest representative in Congress will fill a role similar to other area representatives in the past.
Lisa McClain will be serving on the House Armed Services Committee subcommittees dealing with military personnel and readiness.
The Subcommittee on Military Personnel oversees the Department of Defense Policy and programs related to military personnel, health care, military education, dependent schools, prisoner of war/missing in action issues, welfare and recreation, commissaries, cemeteries under the jurisdiction of the Department of Defense, the Uniform Code of Military Justice, military retirement issues and reserve component integration and employment.

There were 16 new coronavirus cases and no deaths reported in the Upper Thumb since Saturday, according to the state.
On the state report Feb. 8, Huron County saw a two-day increase of three coronavirus cases, bringing the region to 1,572 confirmed cases and 51 deaths.
Tuscola County saw the region s largest increase of nine cases, bringing the county to 2,732 confirmed cases and 121 deaths.
Sanilac County saw an increase of four cases, bringing the county to 1,741 confirmed cases and 69 deaths.
