People get scared when BNP talks about insecurity: Hasan

DHAKA, Jan 10, 2021 (BSS) – Sharply criticising comments of a BNP leader, Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud today said people get scared after hearing the comments on insecurity by the BNP leaders.
“People get worried when the leaders (BNP) say about insecurity as they torched and killed people through arson attacks and put them (people) into grave insecurity. And the people think about whether petrol bomb culture returns again (in the country),” he added.
The minister told the reporters after exchanging views with the newly elected leaders of Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) at the meeting room of his ministry at Secretariat in the capital.

DHAKA, Jan 6, 2021 (BSS) – Terming the era of the incumbent government as the period of development and progress, Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud today said livelihoods of all people across the country have also been uplifted with the development of all sectors during the last 12 years.
âDuring the era, vast development and progress have been taken place at all sectors along with uplift of livelihood of all people in the country under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina,â he said.
The minister came up with the views while uncovering a photo album âSachithra Bangabandhuâ at the meeting room of his ministry at Secretariat here.
Syed Ashraf took politics as vow: Hasan

DHAKA, Jan 3, 2021 (BSS)- Paying rich tribute to Awami League former general secretary Syed Ashraful Islam, Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud today said he took the politics as vow being devoted to leadership.
“The name of Syed Ashraful Islam will be written in the history of the country as a gentleman and transparent politician. Late Syed Ashraf was a very gentle, moderate and a good human being,” he said.
The minister came up with the views while addressing a memorial meeting at an auditorium of Jatiya Press Club in the city.
Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote (BSJ) organised the meeting marking the 2nd death anniversary of Syed Ashraful Islam with BSJ advisor Chittaranjan Das in the chair.
Cabinet Committee meeting on golden jubilee of independence held

DHAKA, Dec 3, 2020 (BSS) – The first meeting of Cabinet Committee was held today to celebrate the golden jubilee of the country’s independence in a colorful and befitting manner.
The meeting was held at the conference room of the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs in the capital this afternoon with Liberation War Affairs Minister and committee chairman AKM Mozammel Haque in the chair, a ministry press release said.
At a press briefing after the meeting, Mozammel Haque revealed the detailed plan of the golden jubilee celebration of the country’s independence.
He said various programmes would be taken throughout the year with a view to spreading the spirit of the Liberation War among the new generation and the grassroots.
Hasan condoles death of eminent litterateur Rabeya Khatun

DHAKA, Jan 3, 2021, (BSS) – Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud today expressed profound shock and sorrow at the death of eminent litterateur Rabeya Khatun.
In a message of condolence, the minister said Rabeya Khatun, who was awarded Independence Award and Ekushey Padak, will ever be remembered for her outstanding contribution in the field of literature.
Dr Hasan, also Awami League joint general secretary, said Rabeya, who was also awarded Bangal Academy Literary Award, was in teaching and journalism professions along with writing hundreds of books for children and juveniles.
The minister prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family.
