Met Gala 1974, the Naked Dress
Even amidst a sea of outrageous looks, this dress Cher wore to the 1974 Met Gala stands out. Created by Bob Mackie, the dress was made of souffle, a French fabric which at the time was outlawed in the US, which was then sprayed down so it stuck to Cher’s body. Dubbed the “Naked Dress”, it caused a stir with the press and then with the public when Cher wore it again on the cover of
TIME magazine. Several cities banned the issue, while those that didn’t sold out immediately.
Over four decades later, Kim Kardashian referenced the look with her Roberto Cavalli dress at the 2015 Met Gala, while in 2018 Dua Lipa recreated the dress for a live performance in Paris.
Commenting on the witness statements, Obama told CBS: “What is true, and I’m actually being serious here, is that there’s footage and records of objects in the skies, that we don’t know exactly what they are, we can’t explain how they moved, their trajectory.”
“They did not have an easily explainable pattern. And so, you know I think that people still take seriously trying to investigate and figure out what that is. But I have nothing to report to you today,” he added.
Last month, the Pentagon confirmed the legitimacy of newly-leaked photos and videos of a UFO, revealing that it was filmed by US Navy personnel in 2019.
The reconstruction will take place above Balenciaga’s historic 10 Avenue Georges V flagship, with its second floor renovated as a total facsimile of Cristóbal’s former space – all vaulted doorways, Cinderella curtains, and wee gold chairs squared off like a waiting room. It’s been, presumably, a year in the works considering the brand’s return to couture had originally been slated for last summer. Though that was thwarted, like everything else, by the pandemic.
If Balenciaga’s latest collaboration, or “hacking”, with Gucci is anything to go by, this will be no mere reenactment, but a heady “simulation”, sure to bend tradition at least in some way. In fact, the designer has already revealed that Balenciaga couture will include menswear and show just once a year, as he disregards the official calendar in much the same way he has when it comes to RTW.
And Just Like That. Actor Sara Ramíez has joined the cast alongside the show’s original stars Sarah Jessica Parker (Carrie Bradshaw), Kristen Davis (Charlotte York), and Cynthia Nixon (Miranda Hobbes).
Ramíez, who is non-binary themselves, will play stand-up comic and podcaster Che Diaz, whose podcast will discuss gender and sexual fluidity, and will feature Carrie as a regular guest star. Diaz is described by
Deadline as “a big presence with a big heart whose outrageous sense of humour and progressive, human overview of gender roles has made them and their podcast very popular”.

The first full trailer for St. Vincent and Carrie Brownstein’s meta music mockumentary,
The Nowhere Inn, has finally arrived ahead of its September 17 release date. Premiered at Sundance last year, the film sees the Sleater-Kinney musician join Annie Clark as fictionalised versions of themselves, with Brownstein filming a concert documentary that quickly spirals out of control.
“I wanted people to know who I really am,” St. Vincent says in the trailer. “I would finally be in control of my narrative. Why was the movie never completed? All I can say, is that somewhere along the way, things went terribly wrong.”
