New York City mayoral candidate Andrew Yang announced Tuesday that his test results for COVID-19 were positive, according to a press release.
“I am experiencing mild symptoms, but am otherwise feeling well and in good spirits. I will quarantine in accordance with public health guidelines and follow the advice of my doctor,” Yang said in the press release.
“When the time is right, I look forward to once again hitting the campaign trail and advancing a positive vision for our city’s future.”

Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell said Tuesday he will vote against confirmation of Alejandro Mayorkas to serve as secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, citing allegations that the nominee provided political favors to Democrats when he served in an immigration post in the Obama administration.
“As a high-ranking official in the Obama administration, Mr. Mayorkas did his best to turn U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services into an unethical favor factory for Democratic Party royalty,” McConnell said during a speech on the Senate floor.
The Senate is set to vote Tuesday afternoon on Mayorkas’ confirmation. If confirmed, the Cuba-born Mayorkas will be the first immigrant to lead DHS. He served as deputy director of the agency during the Obama administration, as well as head of U.S. Customs and Immigration Services (USCIS).
“The voter registration in San Diego mirrors that of California and I think that’s important. And I’ll be the only candidate with executive experience successfully managing a big city. That’s the type of leadership and experience we want,” Faulconer told Fox News. “People don’t really care about partisanship right now. What people care about is leadership and somebody who is going to fix things and get results,” he added.
Faulconer has also endorsed the recall effort against Gavin Newsom, encouraging Californians to sign it on Twitter. Petitioners have gathered over 1.3 million of the 1.5 million signatures necessary to force a ballot, but the March 17 deadline is fast approaching. If the recall effort can garner another 200,000 signatures, California will vote again in November for the governorship. If it fails, then Faulconer will have to wait until the general election in 2022 to face Newsom in the ballot box.
