More than 77K in Tippecanoe County have had at least one vaccine shot

LAFAYETTE, Ind. More than 77,000 people in Tippecanoe County have had at least one shot of the COVID-19 vaccine, according to the Indiana State Department of Health, nearly a month after the state opened eligibility to everyone 16 and older. More than 42,000 people – 42,403 – in the county have been fully vaccinated against the virus. The death toll to the virus remained at 215 Tuesday, with no additional deaths reported; 20 new positive cases were added, bringing that total to 22,097 positive cases since the pandemic started. The seven-day overall positivity rate was 3.9% Tuesday, down from 4.2% on Monday, while the rate for unique individuals was 9.0%. The rate for unique individuals calculates the percentage of people who tested positive for COVID-19, only counting that person once regardless of how many times that individual has been tested. Overall positivity rates measure the percentage of positive tests from all tests conducted.
