A hugely relieved Governor Bello Matawalle of Zamfara State had twitted penultimate Sunday: âAlhamdulillah! It gladdens my heart to announce the release of the abducted students of GGSS Jangebe from captivity. This follows the scaling of several hurdles laid against our efforts. I enjoin all well-meaning Nigerians to rejoice with us as our daughters are now safe.â

On February 25 2021, the Northern governors and traditional rulers in the region held meeting on the deplorable security situation bedevilling the north. Are you hopeful that governors would bring an end to the scourge?
The governors of the 19 northern states have been holding such meetings for a long time and it has not translated into any tangible action against banditry. We have not seen the impact of their meetings in terms of tackling the killer herdsmen terrorising communities in the north.

Terrorists have killed about 10 persons in Zangon Kataf and Chikun local councils of Kaduna State, the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, stated yesterday.
While stating that search and rescue missions had begun in the troubled areas, Aruwan added that the injured had been taken to hospital for treatment.
In Zangon Kataf, Kurmin Gandu village was attacked by armed men and five persons identified as Ishaya Aboi, Regina Ishaya, Goodluck Dauda, Joseph Adamu and Hassan Joseph were reportedly killed. x

Zamfara State Governor, Mr. Bello Matawalle, came under fire yesterday over his statement that he knew the abductors of the 317 pupils of Government Girls Secondary School (GGSS), Jangebe, in Talata Mafara Local Government Area of the state.
The Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF); the Yoruba socio-cultural group, Afenifere; the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF); Southern Kaduna Peoples Union (SOKAPU) and the Kaduna State chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) took on Matawalle and challenged him to reveal their identity.
