Severe weather threat continues overnight for some in Alabama

Wednesday was a significant day for severe weather.
The National Weather Service offices across the state issued rapid-fire tornado warnings during the afternoon and evening hours, and scattered damage was reported in several areas.

Two chances for severe weather this week in Alabama

The Storm Prediction Center thinks severe weather will be possible across all of Alabama on Wednesday, and there could be enhanced chances for the western part of the state. Storms will also be possible on Monday.

System No. 1 will affect mainly northern and western Alabama on Monday.
System No. 2 is the more significant one and could affect ALL of Alabama on Wednesday.
Monday’s system could produce a few strong storms including heavy rain, strong wind gusts and possibly a tornado mainly for northern and western parts of the state.

Storms possible for parts of Alabama and a lot of rain

North and parts of central Alabama could have a marginal risk for isolated severe storms late Friday into Saturday morning. The strongest storms could have damaging winds and hail but the severe weather threat is a low-confidence one.

North and parts of central Alabama are in line for several days of rain starting tonight and a few strong storms will be possible on Friday afternoon into Saturday morning.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala Temperatures are expected to remain below freezing until Wednesday throughout the Tennessee Valley.
The National Weather Service in Huntsville expects the winter storm to lead to power outages. If you do lose power, they say you could be sitting in your cold home until Wednesday.
If you are without power in freezing temperatures, the National Weather Service says to close your blinds and curtains to keep in the heat. They also recommend closing off rooms to prevent wasting heat.
