Students in London, Ont region heading back to class next week

  LONDON, ONT. Schools in the area covered by the Middlesex-London Health Unit and Southwestern Public Health will return to school next week, the province announced Thursday. Education Minister Stephen Lecce issued a statement saying, On the advice of the Chief Medical Officer of Health, with the support of the local Medical Officers of Health, and with the introduction of additional layers of protection, 280,000 students in four public health regions will return to class on Monday, February 1. The other two health units are the Eastern Ontario Health Unit and Ottawa Public Health. The announcement means all students in the Thames Valley District School Board (TVDSB) and London District Catholic School Board (LDCSB) can return to in-class learning.

2021 Aviation Program takes off in February

By Felipe Brenner Picture from TVDSB website This year despite limitations and restrictions due to the current pandemic, the Thames Valley District School Board has decided to go through with the Aviation School program that starts in February and will be available to elementary school students grades 9 and 1o. The yearly program offers students interested in the aviation field to gain industry skills and knowledge through hands on work and intuitive experiences, that places those involved a step closer to a promising professional career. “It all kind of rolls into one, the school day starts the same as everyone else, it ends the same as everyone else, but the collaboration and the work that goes on inside the program is very unique, and has an aviation focus, so students interested in the field are excellent candidates for it.” said John McNorgan the lead for the program.

London, Ont students learning online until at least Feb 10

  MIDDLESEX CENTRE, ONT. London-area students likely won t know until early February when they might be going back to in-class learning. CTV News has learned Thames Valley District School Board classrooms will remain closed to most students until at least Feb. 10. The board also says it expects Ontario s education officials to provide an update on return-to-school plans closer to that date. Locally, the only boards included were the Bruce-Grey Catholic District School Board and the Bluewater District School Board, under the Grey Bruce Health Unit. The province had already announced students in hotspots including Toronto, Windsor, Hamilton, Peel and York Region would continue online learning until Feb. 10.
