NEW DELHI: India may begin vaccinating people against
COVID-19 in January and the government s first priority has been safety and efficacy of the vaccine, Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan has said. I personally feel may be in January in any stage or any week, there can be a time when we can be in a position to give first COVID vaccine shot to people of India Harsh Vardhan told ANI in an exclusive interview.

NEET or the National Eligibility Test 2017 is scheduled for May 7 Sunday. The examination will be conducted in 103 cities of the country. This year a lot of cheating cases happened, and so keeping in view those incidents, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has geared up to avoid such cheating cases.
Shantanu Nandan Sharma, the minister clarifies that attendance won’t be mandatory for some time. Edited excerpts:
The biggest question for students and parents is, when will schools and colleges reopen and start functioning normally? What can you tell us?
The Unlock 5 guidelines issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs (on September 30) gave the flexibility to state and Union territory (UT) governments to take a decision on the reopening of schools, colleges and educational institutions from October 15 in noncontainment zones in a graded manner. The decision has to be taken in consultation with the respective school/institution management, based on their assessment of the situation. The institutes will have to mandatorily follow the SOP regarding health and safety precautions issued by their respective education departments of state or UT. Following the guidelines of the MHA, states such as Goa, Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Assam, Uttarakhand and Maharashtra have partially reopen

India on Saturday recorded another 25,153 new coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours, pushing the country s total number of cases to over 1 crore.
Among the overall cases, the number of active Covid-19 cases stand at 3,08,751 while 95,50,712 have so far recovered from the infection since the first case was reported from Kerala on 30 January.
