On Saturday night, Bharatiya Janata Party Leaders of Opposition Devendra Fadnavis and Pravin Darekar went to Mumbai’s Vile Parle police station after the police questioned a director of a Daman-based pharmaceutical company for allegedly hoarding a large consignment of Remdesivir for export.

New Delhi [India], April 19 (ANI): Amid the spike in the COVID-19 cases, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday interacted with leading doctors from across the country through video conferencing regarding the situation of the pandemic in the country.
Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan and Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya were also present at the meeting.
Apart from the meeting with the doctors, the Prime Minister will be interacting with top pharma companies in the country at 6 am today. The meeting will be held virtually.
In the COVID-19 review meeting on April 17, PM Modi had stressed that there is no substitute for testing, tracking and treatment.

Remdesivir a crucial drug for COVID-19 patients which is currently in short supply has become the political flashpoint between the Maharashtra government and the opposition BJP.
Yesterday, the Mumbai Police detained Brucke Pharma owner Rajesh Dokaniya, saying a truckload of Remdesivir was caught. Mr Dokaniya, the police said, was trying to export 60,000 vials despite an export ban.

Maharashtra Leader of Opposition (LoP) Devendra Fadnavis has alleged the state government was harassing a supplier of Remdesivir from neighbouring union territory Daman because Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders had approached him for supply of the antiviral medication to the state.
Speaking to reporters late on Saturday night, Fadnavis said, Daman-based Bruck Pharma Pvt Ltd was one of the exporters of Remdesivir, whom we (BJP leaders) had contacted to supply the stock to Maharashtra as the state is facing shortage of Remdesivir vials. We have even informed the state FDA minister (Rajendra Shingne) about it and approached the union government seeking necessary permissions.
