ALTON Tourism advocates in the Riverbend are applauding a new $6 million travel campaign kicked off Wednesday by Gov. J.B. Pritzker.
The “Time for Me to Drive” campaign by the Illinois Office of Tourism promotes the return of travel across the state. Illinois officials are encouraging residents and visitors to get out and enjoy Illinois’ diverse communities and scenic landscapes.
“After an incredibly difficult year in which the pandemic kept us all close to home and staying apart, lifesaving vaccines are bringing us back to life and heading toward a summer of fun and venturing out,” said Pritzker.

There are changes in the traditional guides offered by the local tourism bureau. Gone are the spring, summer, fall, and winter publications. Now, there is a twice-a-year Go Guide, and it has recently been published.
So aside from going to just twice a year, how else has it changed? Great Rivers & Routes Tourism Bureau President and CEO Cory Jobe tells The Big Z it will focus less on the calendar aspect of listing events.

Outdoor adventures, foods, urban experiences, and the return of long-anticipated regional festivals are all part of the Great Rivers & Routes Go Guide. You can see the guide online at www.RiversandRoutes.com, or pick one up at area lodging properties, businesses, and attractions.
