Parliament will be effective under my watch – Bagbin LISTEN Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, has promised to help actualize the vision of creating a just and free society in the country. According to him, this aspiration as captured in Article 34 (1) of the 1992 Constitution will continue to be a mirage unless Parliament takes its rightful place as the bulwark of democratic governance. Speaking at a two-day orientation and induction seminar for Members of Parliament (MPs) at Ada, the Speaker stated that “Parliament will no longer be an afterthought or a footnote in the scheme of governance in the country,” and must take its proper place as a respected arm of government, not a ministry.

Kumasi To Become Ghana s Second Industrial City - Alan Kyerematen | General News

  Trade and Industry Minister-designate, Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, on Friday, announced, that the Free Zones Enclave in Kumasi would be turned into Ghana’s second industrial city, after Tema. Mr Kyerematen said a public-private partnership was advancing towards developing the land acquired by the Government at Ejisu for activities in the industrial city because of the strategic location of the Ashanti Region. He described the Region “as being linked to several other geographical regions of Ghana” and being a transit corridor to the Sahelian countries of West Africa. The renominated Minister for the portfolio, who is a lawyer, an entrepreneur, diplomat, and management consultant, said this as his veting by the Appointments Committee of Parliament, at the Parliament House, in Osu-Accra.

1D1F Is A Revolutionary Invention Since Independence - Alan Kyerematen

  Minister-Designate for Trade and Industry Alan Kyerematen on Friday described the One District, One Factory (1D1F) flagship programme of the Akufo-Addo Government as “a revolutionary invention, to have been introduced in the country since independence.” He said 139, 331 jobs were created, with a total of 232 1D1F projects at various stages under the programme. One hundred and sixty eight (168) of the 232 were new factories added to already existing ones. “So, if you look at the statistics, only 64 of the 232 companies (already) existed. 168 of them are new companies,” the Minister Designate said. The Minister Designate spoke about the flagship programme, which were under the supervision of the sector Ministry since 2017, when he was questioned on the status of the programme during his vetting by the Appointments Committee of Parliament on Friday in Accra.
