VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. After a challenging year of teaching, some Hampton Roads school districts reported more teacher and staff vacancies than usual, saying the stress of a pandemic schoolyear contributed to more retirements and fewer teaching applicants.

She continued: Hopefully, this discussion will allow us to think through how we maintain a rigorous academic foundation in a way that s really equitably serving the needs and aspirations of all of Virginia learners.
