Cuts to social security a heavy blow to migrants
Tuesday’s Federal Budget delivered a heavy blow to migrants and permanent residents, increasing the time they must wait to be eligible for social security safety net payments by four years.
This is despite the fact that the Budget relies heavily on migrants for much of the heavy lifting of economic recovery, in terms of population and economic growth, as well as for meeting critical skills shortages.
In the Budget the Morrison Government has announced that new Permanent Residents will have to wait four years to be eligible for social security safety net payments. These include:

Besides the above, note that you are subject to the usual restrictions of HDB flats that apply to everyone. This includes an income ceiling of $14,000 per month, the five-year Minimum Occupation Period (MOP), and not owning any other property locally or overseas.
However, there are no restrictions on flat size or location, if you buy a resale flat. Also, keep in mind that there’s no income ceiling for resale flats.

You can get two grants when buying under the NCS scheme: the Enhanced Housing Grant (EHG) for singles, and the Singles Grant.

Singapore Confirms 25 New Covid-19 Cases On 11 May
The Ministry of Health (MOH) has made early confirmation of 25 new Covid-19 cases today (11 May). This brings the national tally to 61,403.
Among them are:
12 imported cases
10 local infections are linked to previous cases, with 7 linked to the Changi Airport cluster.
Meanwhile, all imported cases had been placed on Stay-Home Notice upon arrival in Singapore and were tested during their stay.
5 of 12 are Singaporeans or Permanent Residents (PRs).
As investigations are ongoing, we can expect more details in MOH’s update later tonight.
