JOHN BISSET/STUFF A car in Golden Bay has left one person with moderate injuries and traffic down to one lane on part of State Highway 60 between Collingwood and Onekaka. A patient has been flown to Nelson Hospital with serious injuries after a two-vehicle crash in Golden Bay. A police spokesperson said a car and van collided on State Highway 60, between Collingwood and Onekaka, about 3.10pm on Thursday afternoon. At 3.40pm, traffic was down to one lane. St John spokesperson Gerard Campbell said the Nelson Marlborough Rescue Helicopter flew one person with serious injuries to Nelson Hospital. Another person with moderate injuries was treated at Golden Bay Community Health.

Family of trampers rescued from ridge line

A mother and her two sons were flown to hospital after spending a night out in the elements. The Nelson Marlborough Rescue Helicopter flew to Tasman’s Upper Graham Valley at 10.20am on Sunday to rescue a family of trampers. Nelson Marlborough Rescue Helicopter pilot Brendan Hiatt said the crew picked up a mother and two young boys from a ridge line after being unable to make it to a hut before dark in bad weather on Saturday. The family set up camp on the ridge for the night, he said.
