A New Jersey woman faces charges after a foster child she was looking after was found by police tethered to a fan by chains and padlocks, police said.
Newark police officers were performing a wellness check on a 12-year-old boy at a home on Clinton Avenue just after 10 a.m. Wednesday. When inside the home, the officers found the boy kept in a bedroom, in chains and padlocked to a fan, according to Newark Public Safety Director Anthony Ambrose.
The boy, who is a foster child in the care of Wanser Brown, was brought to the hospital for evaluation before being released into the custody of the New Jersey Department of Child Protection and Permanency.

Newark Police Division’s Crime Stoppers Program is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of the person or persons responsible for the shooting of a 2-year-old girl.
Police responded to 85-95 Cabinet St., where they found the child, a man and a woman all who had been shot around 11:10 p.m. Jan. 28, Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose said.
Video released by the division shows police rushing the girl to a local hospital. All victims are in stable condition, however, the suspects were still at large, Ambrose said.

The Newark Police Division’s Crime Stoppers Program is offering up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of anyone responsible for the shooting of a 2-year-old girl last week.
The child was one of three victims who were found shot on Jan. 28 around 11:09 p.m. on Cabinet Street in Newark. A man and a woman were also shot and rushed to University Hospital with the 2-year-old, police said.
“Our Major Crimes detectives are actively searching for any suspects involved in this senseless shooting, which could have cost this child her life in a split second,” said Newark Public Safety Director Anthony Ambrose.

Three men were arrested when police busted 50 people gambling, playing cards and drinking inside of an illegal Newark bar this weekend, authorities said.
Newark police officers responding to the Portuguese Soccer Club on Wilson Avenue on reports of illegal alcohol and gambling around 10 p.m. Friday, saw Byron Barraza, 31, unlocking a gate for patrons to go in and out, Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose.
Once inside, police saw some 50 people drinking, playing cards and using gambling machines 61-year-old Victor Pereira serving as bartender at a fully stocked bar with a variety of beers and liquors, Ambrose said.
