Punch Newspapers Sections Our Reporters The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), and the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, among others, on Thursday, mourned the death of the first civilian governor of the state, Lateef Jakande. Jakande died earlier on Thursday at the age of 91 in his Lagos residence. One of his children, Seyi, who confirmed the death, added that Jakande, also a former Minister of Works, would be buried today (Friday). How Jakande died – Son Seyi explained to our correspondent during a visit to the deceased’s residence in Lagos that Jakande died in his sleep around 11am. According to the son, it was the deceased’s aides who discovered that he was not breathing.

NANS warns against activities of impostors

Share The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has raised the alarm over activities of impostors parading themselves as leaders of the association to cause a breach of peace on campuses and defraud unsuspecting Nigerians. The leadership of NANS, Ogun Joint Campus Committee (JCC), particularly said that its attention has been drawn to “claims by some group of impostors masquerading themselves as the authentic executive of NANS in Ogun State, and we want to clearly emphasise that nothing can be further from the truth. In a statement jointly signed by , , NANS, Ogun JCC, and nine NANS Senators from Ogun State, made available to newsmen, on Friday, in Abuja, noted some aggrieved members who did not even participate in the election recently conducted have been parading themselves as authentic leaders of NANS in Ogun State.
