Carey, Taylor to experience action in NCAA Championships DaVante Carey.
Bahamian collegiate swimmers DaVante Carey and Lamar Taylor will be in action at the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II Swimming and Diving Championships set for March 17-20 at the Birmingham Crossplex in Birmingham, Alabama.
Carey swims for the McKendree University Bearcats and Taylor for the Henderson State University Reddies. Both will be swimming in the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard backstroke events. Taylor also has the 100-yard freestyle event.
The two are no strangers to big meets as both swam at the CARIFTA level with Carey also representing The Bahamas at the 2019 Pan American Games and Taylor representing The Bahamas at the 2019 FINA (International Swimming Federation) World Junior Swimming Championships.
National record for Taylor as NCAA champships comes to a close Bahamian Charisma Taylor set a new national record in the women’s triple jump indoors, leaping 13.61m (44’ 8”) at the NCAA Division I Indoor Track and Field Championships in Fayetteville, Arkansas, on Saturday. The old record of 13.60m (44’ 7-1/2”) was set by Tamara Myers in February 2018. Taylor finished fifth.
Another national indoor record was broken this season when triple jumper Charisma Taylor leaped 13.61 meters (m), 44’ 8”, at the 2021 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I Indoor Track and Field Championships at the Randal Tyson Track Center in Fayetteville, Arkansas, on Saturday.
