ISLAMABAD:
The ruling PTI and its key ally in Balochistan – the BAP – have failed to iron out their differences over appointing a new governor of the province despite Prime Minister Imran Khan’s Tuesday visit to Quetta.
In April, Prime Minister Imran had asked Balochistan Governor Amanullah Khan Yasinzai to step down, stating that he intended to appoint a new governor to the province in view of the transformed political challenges facing the country. It has been a pleasure to have worked with you, striving for creation of a welfare state and especially looking after the problems of people of the province of Balochistan, the premier wrote.

Extra-judicial killing sparks protest

A youth was killed and another wounded by personnel of the Police Eagle Squad on Quetta’s Sariyab Road late Wednesday night.The news of the extra-judicial killing spread like wildfire leading to a massive protest by locals and the victim’s families.
They blocked the main Sariyab Road and chanted slogans against police brutality.According to eyewitnesses, policemen belonging to the Eagle Squad opened straight fire on a vehicle near Sadabahar Terminal, injuring two young motorists. One of them identified as Faizan Jattak succumbed to his wounds before being transported to the hospital.
