ISLAMABAD: With only four million people having been fully or partially vaccinated across the country, the University of Health Sciences (UHS) has started working on protocols to start trials for nasal Covid-19 vaccine.
It will be a single dose vaccine, which does not require a syringe. It is hoped the clinical trial will commence in six to eight weeks after approval from three committees is obtained.
On the other hand, the country reported 3,060 new cases and 57 deaths in a single day.

Locally finished vaccine was produced with help of China’s CanSino and is aimed at ensuring adequate supply for inoculation drive
Pakistan on Monday introduced the PakVac vaccine against coronavirus, manufactured locally using raw materials provided by China’s CanSino Bio Inc.
“Congratulations to the National Institute of Health team and its leadership for successful fill/finish (from concentrate) of the CanSino vaccine with the help of CansinoBio Inc. China,” Special Assistant to the P.M. on Health Dr. Faisal Sultan announced in a posting on Twitter. “The product has passed rigorous internal QA [Quality Assurance] testing. An important step to help in our vaccine supply line,” he added.

Pakistan to Offer Online Medical Facility for Palestinians
The University of Health Sciences (UHS) has launched a telemedicine helpline for wounded and ailing Palestinians. Any such patient can register at https://doctors247.online/ and seek treatment online.
The UHS Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Javed Akram, stated that this telemedicine helpline service has been initiated for the wounded and sick people in Palestine, and added that he will travel to Gaza with a medical mission and offer financial relief to the Palestinians.
