Terra State Community College students Katrina Drake and Jamie Walton have been recognized on the All-Ohio Community College Academic Team for the 2020-2021 academic year.
Students are nominated for the academic team by their college administrators. Selection is based on academic achievement, leadership and engagement in their college and community service.
Walton and Drake both placed Third Team All-Ohio, which acknowledges them as top community college students in the state in each category. They will each receive a $250 scholarship.
Terra State Associate Professor Michelle White, the All-USA College Nominator for Terra State, nominated both students.
McCauley – Carchedi
Theodore and Mary Jo Carchedi of Poland are announcing the engagement and approaching marriage of their son, Alex John Carchedi of Poland, to Ashley Danielle McCauley of Oil City, Pa., daughter of Debra McCauley of Oil City, Pa., and the late Michael McCauley.
The bride-elect is a graduate of Edinboro University of Pennsylvania and Clarion University of Pennsylvania, with degrees in speech communications and business administration. She is an account manager at Rossbacher Insurance Group.
The prospective groom attended the University of Mount Union and Youngstown State University. He holds a bachelor’s degree in exercise science. Mr. Carchedi is a personal trainer with Fine Tune Fitness in Poland and Canfield.

Distinguished Senior at OSU
COLUMBUS Rachael Cline of Toronto has been named a 2021 Distinguished Senior at Ohio State University College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences.
“The Distinguished Senior Award is the most prestigious undergraduate award in CFAES, recognizing the top graduating seniors from each of the academic units on the Columbus campus,” said Steven Neal, CFAES professor and associate dean for academic programs.
Cline, a sustainable plant systems major from Jefferson County, was nominated by college faculty and staff who felt that she personified the award’s attributes of academic, disciplinary, and professional excellence.

Less-strict residential zoning standards, such as those limiting an area to single-family housing, would make homes cheaper in the future, according to a survey of Ohio economists published on Monday.
A poll of the Ohio Experts Panel by Scioto Analysis, found that 22 of 26 economists agreed that such a move would reduce housing costs. Some even argued that it would make for better neighborhoods.
“It is efficient to allow multi-family units to be built anywhere and allow mixed residential and businesses to allow ‘walkable’ neighborhoods,” University of Toledo economist Kevin Egan commented as part of the survey.
