Paul S. Schulz, M.D. Dr. Schulz received his Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering at University of Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1992 and his medical degree from the University of Louisville in 1999. He continued on with the University of Louisville School of Medicine to complete an internal medicine residency and infectious diseases fellowship in 2005. He remained on faculty until 2007 when he joined a private practice group. In 2010, Dr. Schulz joined Norton Healthcare and currently serves as the system epidemiologist participating in antimicrobial stewardship, infection prevention, and employee health. As part of the infectious diseases PGY2 program, he precepts the longitudinal ambulatory infectious diseases rotation and adult infectious diseases consult service. His current area of interest is HIV/hepatitis C co-infection.

Iowa City man arrested for fleeing after 3rd OWI

01/07/21 An Iowa City man faces OWI charges after leaving the scene of an accident on southbound I380. According to arrest reports, deputies were dispatched to the 8 mile marker just before 5:25pm Wednesday for an individual driving recklessly. The driver, identified as 31-year-old  Patrick Horras of East College Street, was allegedly weaving in and out of traffic at a high rate of speed, and passing on the shoulder. Horras rear ended another vehicle, causing it to roll as both vehicles ended up in the median. Horras reportedly fled the scene on foot and was located by another officer about a mile away from the crash, hiding in the snow. Upon contact, he allegedly had the odor of alcohol and marijuana, had slurred speech, red watery eyes and unsteady balance. A warrant was requested and granted for a blood draw, which was executed in the emergency room of the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.

Police identify break-in suspect at NL Fire Station

North Liberty police have arrested the man who allegedly damaged the Fire Station on Sunday. According to a news release from the city, an individual entered the North Liberty Fire Station on West Cherry Street around 12:15am. The man, now dentified as 30-year-old Robert Mlejnek of Park Ridge Drive in Coralville, broke a garage bay door window to get in. He’s then accused of causing about $5000 damage to equipment in the station. Fire department staff, who were on duty at the station at the time of the entry, initially thought the person was seeking emergency medical attention. When it was reportedly clear that Mlejnek was intoxicated, they requested support from law enforcement. He allegedly stated he had been kicked out of a local bar and had a lot to drink.
