Longtime researcher named director of university s coast lab

January 9, 2021 GMT OCEAN SPRINGS, Miss. (AP) A longtime marine researcher at the University of Southern Mississippi will become the new director of the university’s Gulf Coast Research Laboratory. Dr. Joseph R. Hendon has been a research scientist at the university for 22 years. He most recently served as Gulf Coast Research Laboratory’s associate director. The Gulf Coast Research Laboratory is a marine and coastal research and education center dedicated to studying the Gulf Coast’s ecosystem. It has operated for more than 70 years and spans 275 acres at two locations in Ocean Springs. Hendon, a native of Jackson, said he is honored to have been made director. Gulf Coast Research Laboratory provides the university “a unique gateway” to the Gulf Coast and Gulf of Mexico, Henson said.

Keith Munn (Photo: HII) America s largest military shipbuilder Huntington Ingalls Industries announced Friday that Keith Munn has been promoted to vice president, business management, and chief financial officer for its Ingalls Shipbuilding division in Pascagoula, Miss. Effective February 15, Munn will be responsible for all financial management, contract management and business management functions at Ingalls, reporting to Ingalls Shipbuilding President Brian Cuccias. Munn replaces Tom Stiehle, who has been promoted to HII executive vice president and CFO. “Keith’s extensive knowledge and accomplished background have been an asset to Ingalls for many years,” Cuccias said. “His experience positions him for success in this important role on our leadership team, and we look forward to working together to continue moving Ingalls Shipbuilding forward.”
