Wake up. We cannot police ourselves out of this crisis. One thing is clear, greater access to firearms does not equal greater public safety. Imagine if we were as focused on access to counselling as we are with access to carrying a gun, helping end gun violence means changing the choices people make people who are hurting without hope and think violence is the only means available to them. Law enforcement can do a lot, but we, as a community, have got to start valuing the lives and unequal opportunity that our cities live with every single day.
