Dua Lipa pleaded with Prime Minister Boris Johnson to give NHS frontline workers a fair pay rise as she won the Brit Award for Best Female.
Caring for the nation platform
A new online initiative has been created by a charity with the support of the chief nursing officer to celebrate the contribution of ethnic minority nurses and midwives.
The Mary Seacole Trust has launched a new part of its website dedicated to celebrating the World Health Organization’s (WHO) International Year of the Health and Care Worker during 2021.

Supported by NHS England and NHS Improvement, the Caring for the nation platform offers a collection of inspiring interviews with nurses from around the globe.
Lipa added: “It’s very good to clap for them, but we need to pay them.
“I think what we should do is we should all give a massive, massive round of applause and give Boris (Johnson) a message that we all support a fair pay rise for our front line.”
Her speech was met with rapturous applause from the crowd, which contained 2,500 people working on the front line of the pandemic in the Greater London area.
Award recipients have been given a “double trophy” which comes in two parts.
They have been encouraged to give one part of their trophy to someone else.

The event, which featured an audience of 4,000 people including 2,500 key workers, marked the return of live music to London’s O2 Arena after more than a year.
Jack Whitehall kicked off the event with a sketch featuring Line Of Duty stars Vicky McClure and Martin Compston, as well as social media sensation Jackie Weaver, who went viral with her contributions to a parish council meeting.
Coldplay delivered a performance of their new single Higher Power from a pontoon on the River Thames, surrounded by hologram dancers and against a backdrop of purple and orange fireworks.
