KUALA LUMPUR (May 5): Malaysia reported today that the country s newly-confirmed Covid-19 cases rose to 3,744, from 3,120 yesterday.
A total of 17 Covid-19-related deaths were reported today, according to health director general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah’s update on Twitter today.
“The cumulative number (of Covid-19-related fatalities across the country stood at) 1,591 so far, Dr Noor Hisham said.
He said the 3,744 newly-confirmed Covid-19 infected individuals today brought the nation’s cumulative number of pandemic cases to 424,376 so far.
Out of the 3,744 newly-confirmed Covid-19 infected individuals, 3,737 were local cases, while seven cases were imported, according to him.
Across hospitals in Malaysia, 328 Covid-19 patients are being treated at intensive care units, according to Dr Noor Hisham.

PUTRAJAYA: The Health Ministry has identified 20 new Covid-19 clusters, taking the number of active ones up to 411.
In his daily Covid-19 update on Wednesday (May 5), Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said eight of the clusters were outbreaks at workplaces, while six others were community outbreaks.
Four clusters are linked to the education sector, while two are related to religious events.
The Persiaran Setia Prima cluster is an outbreak related to two schools in Shah Alam.
“The positive cases under this cluster were first detected on April 5 from a targeted screening exercise conducted on 271 students and staff of the two schools.

Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah also revealed that 2,304 people have recovered from the disease and were discharged in the past 24 hours.
However, this still meant a net increase to active cases, which were now 32,939.
