Covid-19 cases continue to surge

PETALING JAYA: New Covid-19 cases continue to spike with 3,332 recorded nationwide and with Selangor recording the most with 1,083. Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, in a statement, said the new cases in Selangor included 36 from existing clusters, 705 from close contact screening and a further 342 from other testing. Sarawak recorded 522 new cases, with 48 from existing clusters, 404 from close contacts screening and 70 others from other testing. Dr Noor Hisham said Kelantan recorded 401 cases, with 99 from existing clusters, 233 from close contact screening and 69 from other testing. Meanwhile, Kuala Lumpur recorded 359 cases, said Dr Noor Hisham, with 205 from close contacts screening along with nine import cases, a further 141 from various testing and four from active clusters.

KUALA LUMPUR, April 30 The Health Ministry announced 3,788 new Covid-19 infections for the past 24-hour mark making the total cumulative cases to 408,713 since the pandemic arrived in Malaysia. Making up a third of the infection index today, Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said that Selangor tops the list with the highest cases recorded today at 1,265, followed by Sarawak (760), and Kelantan (464).

30 Apr 2021 / 20:55 H. KUALA LUMPUR: The daily figure of new Covid-19 cases in Malaysia hit a record high today at 3,788 cases. Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah in his tweet, said that of the total recorded over the past 24 hours, Selangor has the highest number of new cases at 1,265, followed by Sarawak (760) and Kelantan. Kuala Lumpur recorded 255 cases, followed by Penang (250), Johor (160), Kedah and Negeri Sembilan with 136 cases each, Perak (118), Sabah (89), Melaka (55) and Pahang (54). Terengganu has 37 new cases, Perlis (five), while Putrajaya and Labuan, two cases each. Meanwhile, in a statement, Dr Noor Hisham said the total number of infections now stood at 408,713 and that, in the past 24 hours, there were 2,640 recoveries, taking the total number of recoveries to 377,980 while the number of active cases stood at 29,227.

PUTRAJAYA: Another 14 people in the country died of Covid-19, taking Malaysia’s death toll to 1,506. In his daily Covid-19 updates on Friday (April 30), Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the death cases involved those aged 33 to 97. “Six of the death cases are in Selangor, five in Sarawak, two are in Johor and one in Negri Sembilan. There were 13 Malaysians and one foreign citizen, ” he said. “The Health Ministry expresses its condolences to the family members, ” added Dr Noor Hisham. Most of the deceased have underlying conditions such as diabetes and high blood pressure. There were two cases which have been declared as “dead on arrival”.
