Covid-19: Sarawak prison with 160 new infections among 10 new clusters detected

PETALING JAYA: A total of 10 new Covid-19 clusters were reported in the country on Sunday (April 4), with a prison cluster in Sarawak alone reporting 160 new infections. The Tembok Sri Aman cluster was discovered after a screening of detainees at the Sri Aman Prison on March 30. Of the other nine new clusters reported, five were detected at workplaces and four were community linked, said Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah in a statement. The Jalan Maju Cermerlang cluster reported 11 infections following a screening of a factory in Ulu Tiram, Johor Baru, while the Jalan Murni Satu cluster involving an education centre in Kluang reported 15 infections.

KUALA LUMPUR, April 3 Malaysia today recorded 1,638 new cases of Covid-19, with the three states of Perak, Selangor and Sarawak collectively accounting for more than two-thirds of such cases, the Health Ministry’s latest data today showed. Out of the 1,638 new cases, Perak alone accounted for close to one-third or 30.2 per cent with 494 cases, followed by Selangor at 352 cases (21.5 per cent) and Sarawak at 290 cases (17.7 per cent). Together, the three states amount to 69.35 per cent of today’s cases.
