PUTRAJAYA (March 16): The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) is satisfied with the Covid-19 vaccine procurement process, says Coordinating Minister for the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme, Khairy Jamaluddin.
He said Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba, Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah and himself had presented the information and details of the vaccine procurement to the PAC on Jan 5, although the government was still bound by the non-disclosure agreement signed with the vaccine manufacturers.
In his counter statement to opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on the immunisation programme today, Khairy said the details and agreement documents had also been presented to the PAC.

“The drastic increase in the antibody’s ability to provide effectiveness for a person in the long-term is after the second dose.
“A delay in getting the second dose may slow the optimum production of antibodies, ” the Health director-general said Wednesday (March 17).
He added that at the moment, the long-term effectiveness of the vaccine after the first dose is unknown as clinical studies are done on those who received the second dose after 19 to 42 days.
He said the ministry took note of recent issues raised over the need for taking the second dose of the vaccine which provides 94.6% efficacy in preventing Covid-19 (SARS CoV2) infections.
KUALA LUMPUR (March 17): Malaysia today registered 1,219 new Covid-19 cases, a slight increase from the 1,063 reported yesterday, yet marking the 12th consecutive day that new cases stayed below the 2,000 mark.
This brought total coronavirus infections in the country to 327,253, according to Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
In a statement today, he revealed that another two deaths two Malaysians aged 58 and 75 respectively were reported in Sabah. Both of them died at the Duchess of Kent Hospital in Sandakan. Total deaths rose to 1,220.
Selangor topped the list of states with the most number of new cases at 499, followed by Sarawak (225 cases) and Johor (169).
