KUALA LUMPUR: The number of new daily Covid-19 cases in Malaysia stays in four figures at 1,925 cases today while total active cases are at 21,443.
Health director-general, Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the new additional cases brought the overall total in the country to 108,615 cases.
He said from the total new cases, 10 were imported, while local Covid-19 transmissions accounted for 1,915 cases.
“Selangor reported the highest daily cases with 747 and 625 of the cases are from Covid-19 clusters and screening of close contact in active cases in the field. This was followed by the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur with 360 cases,” he said.

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 28 Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah today assured Malaysians that government hospitals are capable of treating Covid-19 cases even as new infections continue to top the 1,000-mark daily.
Dr Noor Hisham said government hospitals were not yet at maximum capacity.
He said that hospitals in Selangor which continue to register the highest number of cases today are only at 59 per cent of their bed capacity at the moment.

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 28 Malaysia recorded 1,594 new Covid-19 infections today, three of which contracted the virus while abroad.
With this Malaysia now has a cumulative total of 106,690 cases.
Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah also announced the recovery of 1,181 patients and the deaths of three people today, bringing the total number of Covid-19 fatalities in the country to 455.
GEORGE TOWN: A low-risk Covid-19 centre (LRCC) has been set up in Penang in preparation for mandatory screening for registered foreign workers in the state from Jan 1.
Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the LRCC is currently the largest center in Penang with a capacity of up to 432 beds and will be used to manage low-risk Covid-19 patients. The facility has been fully operational since Dec 22 and the patients in the center were managed around the clock by assistant medical officers and doctors. They will also be reviewed by an Internal Medicine Physician in consultation with Infectious Disease Consultants. Patients requiring step-up care will be transferred to Hospital Pulau Pinang, he said in his Facebook post.
