CM Murad Ali Shah approves Rs30bn Safe City Project to install 10,000 CCTV cameras Karachi April 17, 2021 Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has approved the launch of the Safe City Project worth Rs30 billion, under which 10,000 CCTV cameras would be installed in Karachi in three phases, each of which would be completed within 12 months starting next financial year 2021-22. The CM took this decision on Friday while presiding over a meeting to review the progress of the Safe City Project. The meeting was told that the National Radio and Telecommunication Corporation (NRTC) had submitted technical and financial proposals in this regard that needed to be evaluated by the evaluation committee.

The Sindh Safe City project was conceived in 2018 to control crime and increase vigilance through modern automated systems, provision of intelligence in cases of emergencies, bringing about improvements in road traffic management and enabling officials to take prompt action to deal with natural disasters. JIT confirms Osama Satti was murdered by policemen - Pakistan

Osama Satti was shot dead by police officials in Islamabad on Jan 2. DawnNewsTV/File ISLAMABAD: A Joint Investigation Team (JIT) has confirmed that Osama Nadeem Satti, 21, was murdered by officials of the capital police on Jan 2 this year. Senior officers of the police told Dawn on condition of anonymity that the JIT probed the incident and found that the youth was murdered by officials of the Crisis Response Team (CRT) of the Anti-Terrorism Squad of the police. The CRT team, comprising five policemen including a driver, fired at the car of Mr Satti with intention to kill the driver instead of neutralising him, they said.
